Originally a heavily industrialized district, Jebel Ali today wears many hats. From housing one of the largest free zones, Jebel Ali Port & Free Zone, known as Jafza, which is the headquarters of companies active in manufacturing, trade, logistics and a range of industrial and service-orientated sectors to expansive residential communities, Jebel Ali is a master planned district. Popular residual communities with the district include Discovery Gardens, The Gardens, Downtown Jebel Ali and Al Furjan, each offering a beautiful range of apartments and villas set within a self-sustained neighbourhood. Located between Jebel Ali Free Zone and Techno Park, when completed, Downtown Jebel Ali will cover more than 6.5 million square metres.

Two new stations planned for The Gardens and Discovery Gardens will connect Jebel Ali to all parts of the metro system.

A mere 10 minutes away is the Ibn Battuta Mall. With a great choice of high street stores, supermarkets, fitness centres and cinemas, it’s a great place to do your weekend shopping or hide yourself and the family during those hot summer months. The mall is also home to the UAE´s very first IMAX theatre. There’s also Discovery Pavilion, a community center in Discovery Gardens, developed by Nakheel.

The Jebel Ali Social Club has a refurbished pool with a restaurant and a gymnasium and is a fantastic place to pop down to at the weekends and catch up with neighbors or relax with the family. The Ibn Battuta Gate hotel (Movenpick), inspired with the 14th century traveler and adventurer Ibn Battuta, has some amazing restaurants and is very popular amongst residents.
